Tani Layne
Lead vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards

I've been singing almost since birth.  I was selected to perform with the EBRP All-Parish Choir for two years in a row in Jr. High School and won several awards in solo and ensemble competition.  I then went on to join local band “Reaper” during college.  Joining the Weekend Warriors program in 1997 was the avenue for meeting up with fellow Secret Ingredient band-mate, Richard, along with the other original bandmembers.  I have sung with the Baton Rouge Symphony Chorus and studied voice under Terry Patrick-Harris.  I also have a studio CD available with my other band, Core9, available at www.core9.com. My tastes range from the Beatles to Led Zeppelin to Metallica, rock, blues, and classical.  Besides aspiring to perform more like my idol, Robert Plant, I try my hand at various other instruments, keyboard, guitar, and percussion, whenever I can.

When I was an infant, my father placed a guitar in my grasp. I've been playing any I've been able to put my hands on ever since. I love the entertainment business. I traveled to Hollywood in high school to represent the state of Louisiana in Show Choir. I got involved in professional modeling while I was in college. I recently performed as a dancer in the motion picture, "Ray." I've written and played lead guitar for the Louisiana Songwriters' Association. I've performed onstage with various local Blues legends, such as the late T-Bone Singelton. I've recorded with R&B great, Earnest Jackson. My guitar heroes are still those from the Rock bands of my childhood----KISS, Eric Clapton, and particularly, Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin. But I am also influenced musically by the great singer-songwriters, such as Paul Simon, Barry Gibb, and Carol King, and R&B legends such as Prince, Stevie Wonder, and Lionel Richie. I've been playing with Secret Ingredient since 1997. Secret Ingredient is a very special part of my life, and I cherish each and every opportunity and priviledge I have to entertain You.
